Catholic Education Flanders Teaches Children How Computers ‘Think’

28-02-2019

The new teaching plan for elementary schools of Catholic Education Flanders is focusing on computational thinking, the ability to solve problems by using ICT or by insight into ICT.

The creation of the new plan was supported by a team of academics, among them Bern Martens, Bart Demoen, and Giovanni Samaey of our department, along with Francis wyffels of UGent and Frank Neven of UHasselt.

Professor Giovanni Samaey gave an interview on Radio 1 explaining computational thinking in catholic elementary schools. The news was also featured on TV news: the VRT report can be found here (requires login, starts at 10:10).

More information can also be found on the Computational Thinking website.
